WISHING TO WITNESS IT

Every year, we celebrate High School Day at our school. When I started at Ilocos Sur National High School in Grade 7, it was probably my first high school day celebration until COVID arrived. The government imposed a lockdown weeks or days before the celebration of high school day, which made me unhappy because our efforts in practicing and creating props were wasted. I'm currently in 10th grade, and we're ready to relive one of the most memorable parts of our high school experience: high school day. The theme of the program is "Renewed commitment in defying odds to transcend heights of excellence and solidarity". As we celebrate this event, the school has planned activities to make this high school day enjoyable, entertaining, and memorable.

The program will begin with a Thanksgiving Mass at 8 a.m. The program will then resume at 10 a.m. with the teacher's choir's doxology and hymns. Our school's principal and school division superintendent will deliver welcome words to officially start off the program. To continue with the inspirational talk and the introduction of the guest speaker, the selected Grade 10 students will perform an intermission number. One of the Outstanding Alumnae, class of 2006, will deliver an inspirational speech. We also witness the presentation of a plaque of recognition to the guest speaker and the acknowledgement of outstanding teachers, employees, and retirees. To keep the enjoyment going, the third and last part of the program includes some activities that everyone will enjoy. Everyone will be able to see the talent of students and teachers in various activities, such as playing traditional games and performing various forms of dance. There are also booths where the students can go around not only other students but also teachers.

To summarize, the high school day would have been celebrated two years ago, but it didn't happen because of the sudden pandemic. This year, High School Day will be celebrated, but only selected students will be attending. The high school day is one of the most memorable parts of being a high school student. But as a junior high student, I won't be able to witness it. Aside from that, I will continue to enjoy my high school experience in many different ways, and I'll make sure to make my high school experience memorable.
